Mold
Molds serve an important role in our environment. They are used for vaccines and contribute to our environmental cycle by helping in the decomposition process. It is when mold presents itself indoors, that it can become an issue, which may require remediation. Mold grows where there is excess moisture. It can consume wood, dust, carpet, food, and other items that it can digest as nutrients. If left unchecked, it will eventually lead to structural damage.
In addition, indoor mold exposure can present a health risk. It can:
- Cause localized infections. These can be much more dangerous in those who have impaired immunity, AIDS, uncontrolled diabetes, or those taking immune suppressive drugs.
- Cause asthema attacks in some individuals who are allergic to mold.

The first step in a successful mold remediation project is the identification of the type of mold, and areas affected. A sampling and analysis of the suspect surface is the best way to ensure the proper identification.
